In an update to the April 2020 survey hosted by Risk.Net and Riskthinking.AI a follow-up survey was conducted in June 2020 targeting risk managers, consultants and bankers to ascertain their perspectives on the path to a vaccine, the financial impacts the COVID-19 pandemic continues to have on the Global Economy and their views on the impact of Climate Change in relative the current crisis. In all, there were 179 survey respondents who shared their views on how climate change will influence future global pandemics, the likely time to a vaccine being available in their respective regions, and how the current situation will impact the global economy over the next 6 months. We draw two important insights from our results:
-
The first is that radical uncertainty exists regarding the time to a vaccine and its likely effect on key financial benchmarks.
-
The second is that, the financial benchmarks are heading into uncharted territory with the US GDP and the US 10-year Treasury note projected to reach historic lows.
